Friends of Kashmir and the Canadian Council for Justice and Peace organized a conference on the Kashmir issue in Ottawa on Sunday.

Addressing the conference, Pakistan's High Commissioner Tariq Azim Khan said over 153 innocent Kashmiris have been brutally killed by Indian occupation forces during the last one year.

He said the use of pellet guns has blinded hundreds of people and they are even denied medical aid in hospitals.

Lord Nazir Ahmed on the occasion said that if referendum can be held in East Timor and South Sudan to ascertain wishes of the people then why not in Kashmir, which is the longstanding dispute on the agenda of the UN Security Council.

The participants observed one minute silence on the occasion for the martyrs of Occupied Kashmir.
